Kaushik Rajashekara (Fellow, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. In 1989, he joined the Delphi division of General Motors Corporation in Indianapolis, USA, as a Staff Project Engineer. In Delphi and General Motors, he held various lead technical and managerial positions, and was a Technical Fellow and the Chief Scientist for developing propulsion and power electronics systems for electric, hybrid, and fuel cell vehicle systems. In 2006, he joined Rolls-Royce Corporation, as a Chief Technologist for electric systems for electric and hybrid aircraft systems. In August 2012, he joined as a Distinguished Professor of Engineering with the University of Texas at Dallas, TX, USA. Since September 2016, he has been a Distinguished Professor of engineering in University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA. He has authored or coauthored over 250 papers in international journals and conferences, has 37 US and 15 foreign patents, and has written one book. He has given more than 200 invited presentations in international conferences and universities. He has received a number of awards including the 2022 Global Energy Prize, 2021 IEEE Medal on Environment & Safety Technologies and 2013 IEEE Richard Harold Kaufmann Award for his contributions to electrification of transportation and renewable energy. He was elected as a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering in 2012, Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering in 2013, and a Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2021, and a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in 2015. His research interests include power/energy conversion, transportation electrification, renewable energy, and microgrid systems.

Yang SHI received his B.Sc.
and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering and
automatic control from Northwestern Polytechnical
University, Xi’an, China, in 1994 and 1998,
respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and
computer engineering from the University of Alberta,
Edmonton, AB, Canada, in 2005. From 2005 to 2009, he was
an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the
Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of
Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, SK, Canada. In 2009, he joined
the University of Victoria, and now he is a Professor in
the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of
Victoria, Victoria, BC, Canada. His current research
interests include networked and distributed systems,
model predictive control (MPC), cyber-physical systems
(CPS), robotics and mechatronics, navigation and control
of autonomous systems (AUV and UAV), and energy system
applications. Dr. Shi received the University of
Saskatchewan Student Union Teaching Excellence Award in
2007, and the Faculty of Engineering Teaching Excellence
Award in 2012 at the University of Victoria (UVic). He
is the recipient of the JSPS Invitation Fellowship
(short-term) in 2013, the UVic Craigdarroch Silver Medal
for Excellence in Research in 2015, the 2017 IEEE
Transactions on Fuzzy Systems Outstanding Paper Award,
the Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced
Researchers in 2018. He is Vice President of IES, Chair
of IEEE IES Technical Committee on Industrial
Cyber-Physical Systems, and was on the IES Fellow
Evaluation Committee during 2017-2019. Currently, he is
Co-Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Industrial
Electronics; he also serves as Associate Editor for
Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE
Transactions on Cybernetics, etc. He is General Chair of
the 2019 International Symposium on Industrial
Electronics (ISIE) and the 2021 International Conference
on Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems (ICPS). He is
a Fellow of IEEE, ASME, CSME, and Engineering Institute
of Canada (EIC), and a registered Professional Engineer
in British Columbia, Canada.
Prof. Hua Geng (IEEE Fellow)

Hua Geng received the Ph.D. degree in
control theory and application from Tsinghua University,
Beijing, China, in 2008. From 2008 to 2010, he was a
Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ryerson University,
Toronto, ON, Canada. He joined Automation Department of
Tsinghua University in June 2010 and is currently a full
professor. His current research interests include
advanced control on power electronics and renewable
energy conversion systems. He has authored more than 200
technical publications and holds more than 30 issued
Chinese/US patents. He was the winner of 2023 IEEE PELS
Sustainable Energy Systems Technical Achievement Award.
He is the editors of IEEE Trans. on Energy Conversion
and IEEE Trans. on Sustainable Energy, associate editors
of IEEE Trans. on Industry Applications, IET Renewable
Power Generation, Control Engineering Practice. He
served as general co-chairs, track chairs and session
chairs of several IEEE conferences. He is an IEEE Fellow
and an IET Fellow, convener of the modeling working
group in IEC SC 8A.
Prof. Jinliang Ding
Northeastern University, China
Jinliang Ding is a Professor of the State Key Laboratory of Synthetical Automation for Process Industry, Northeastern University. He has authored or co-authored over 200 refereed journal papers and refereed papers at international conferences. He has also invented or co-invented over 50 patents. His research interests include modeling, plant-wide control and optimization for the complex industrial systems, machine learning, industrial artificial intelligence, and computational intelligence and application. Dr. Ding was a recipient of the Young Scholars Science and Technology Award of China in 2016, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2015, the National Technological Invention Award in 2013, and four First-Prize of Science and Technology Awards of the Ministry of Education in 2006, 2012, 2018 and 2022, respectively. One of his articles published on Control Engineering Practice was selected for the Best Paper Award of 2011–2013.
Xin Lin (Member, IEEE) was born in Shaanxi, China, in 1961. She received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China, in 1982, 1985, and 1989, respectively. She is currently a Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Shenyang University of Technology, Shenyang, China, leading the research group on electric apparatus. Her research interests include high voltage apparatus, high voltage and insulation techniques, plasma arc discharge theory in high-voltage electrical equipment, SF6 alternative technologies, and more. Most of her research results have been applied directly to the design, manufacturing and operation of extra- and ultra-high voltage circuit breakers in China. She is a Member of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE) and a Member of CIGRE A3 representing China.
